In the Science Learning Area, students will learn to investigate, understand and communicate about the physical, biological, chemical and geologigal world and, in the process, appreciate the interactions that support life on our planet. Science plays an important part in our everyday lives and the world around us. Through the study of Science, students are able to become critical thinkers and use evidence to evaluate what is happening around them.
In Year 7 – 10, the learning content area of Science is organised into 4 categories:
- Biological Science
- Chemical Science
- Physical Science
- Earth and Space Science
There is also ongoing integrated learning in the areas of Science Enquiry Skills and Science as a Human Endeavour, which develop an understanding of science investigative methods, and the role of Science in everyday life.
In Years 11 and 12, we strive to cater for a diverse range of student interests in Science through a selection of courses such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology and Integrated Science, depending on the students needs. By doing so, we are able to help the student develop their scientific knowledge, skills and process which in turn, assists them in achieving their future aspirations, either through work or further studies.
