Enrichment Program

Rockingham Senior High School aims to provide a comprehensive, engaging and inclusive education for all students, such as the variety of Specialist and School based Sports programs (Basketball, Netball and Rugby) and Academic programs like Maritime Studies and ACE. In 2015 the school introduced a program, across Years 7 – 10, for students who have not met certain bench marks with their Literacy and Numeracy levels. The aim of the program is to help students reach their literacy and numeracy competency goals.

The school has allocated significant time and resources to ensure these students were supported in meeting these needs, therefore these classes will have student numbers kept to be in the low 20s, most other classes will be in the low 30’s. Each of these classes has a trained Education Assistant who will work with the teacher to support these students in reaching their goals.

These classes run for identified students in the Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences subjects. Students will be continually monitored and assessed and when students have reached certain bench marks will be moved out of the class. Students may be in the class for one, two, three or all four of these subjects.

Literacy and Numeracy enhancement is the main driver of these courses and as such students will be undertaking an adjusted version of the Australian Curriculum. Reporting for each of these subjects will still occur but the reports will be in an alternate form and based around identified targets and individual goals.
