Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Rockingham Senior High School.

As a proud Independent Public School, we are committed to building REAL futures by fostering a culture of high expectations, strong relationships and quality teaching. Our focus is to ensure every student feels supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their personal best.

Since opening our doors in 1971, Rockingham Senior High School has been dedicated to providing a high-quality education in a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive environment. With approximately 1100 students from Years 7 to 12, we take pride in knowing our students as individuals and supporting them to grow academically, socially and emotionally.

We are currently in an exciting phase of renewal, with our $60.5 million Rebuilding Program transforming our school. New state-of-the-art facilities for Design and Technology, Home Economics and a modern Sports Hall are nearing completion, with further upgrades planned across The Arts, Technology and Student Services. These improvements are creating contemporary learning spaces that will benefit our students for many years to come.

At Rockingham SHS, we are proud of our strong and positive school culture. We value respectful relationships, academic excellence and personal growth, while embracing innovative teaching practices that prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

Our students have access to a wide range of opportunities. In Years 7 to 10, specialist programs include Maritime Studies, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Music and our Academic Challenge Extension program. Students are also encouraged to explore their interests through extracurricular activities such as Music, Drama, STEM, Languages, Art and Technologies.

We are also proud to offer a Learning Support (Enrichment) pathway, designed to support students with additional learning needs, including those requiring special education support. This pathway provides targeted assistance through literacy and numeracy intervention programs, personalised learning plans, and the support of skilled education assistants. Our aim is to ensure every student can access the curriculum, build confidence, and experience success in their learning.

In senior school, students can choose from a broad range of pathways including ATAR courses and Vocational Education and Training (VET). As a recognised leader in VET, we offer nationally recognised qualifications and strong industry partnerships, including opportunities through the Peron Trade Training Centre and Industry Links Program. These pathways ensure our students are well prepared for university, further training or employment.

Beyond the classroom, we believe education is about developing the whole person. Our programs support leadership, creativity and teamwork, helping students become confident and capable young people. As a proudly multicultural school, we celebrate diversity and create a welcoming environment where every student and family feels they belong.

Our dedicated staff are passionate about teaching and learning, and they work closely with families and the wider community to support each student’s journey. Strong partnerships with parents, local businesses and community organisations play a vital role in the success of our school.

Rockingham Senior High School is more than a place of learning , it is a supportive and vibrant community where students are encouraged to aim high, work hard and embrace every opportunity.

I look forward to working with you and your child as we continue to live our motto, Learn to Live, and demonstrate our REAL values of Respect, Engage, Achieve and Learn.
